Club Rules
The Guildford Bowling & Recreation Club practices the responsible service of alcohol and does not encourage excessive and binge drinking. Patrons are refused service as soon as they show any sign of intoxication and will ask to leave the Club.
This establishment in the best interest of its members, guests and the community promotes The Responsible Service of Alcohol.
The responsible service of alcohol
Responsible serving of alcohol is vital for legal health and community reasons. Our society is now less tolerant of the irresponsible use of alcohol that leads to drunkenness, drink driving and under age drinking. We are now far more aware of the serious social problems that are associated with such behaviour.
This establishement has adopted the following house policy which provides a framework for the Responsible Service of Alcohol :
- In order to prevent underage access and drinking we will require proof of age to be provided when requested
- Persons who are intoxicated will be refused admission to our premises
- We will display and refer to intoxication signs in order to support our responsible attitude and meet the requiremrents of legislation.
- Any patron in this establishment will be denied service if they are considered to be intoxicated
- We will educate our staff and our patrons as part of our duty of care to ensure that they understand the implications and abide by our responsible service of alcohol policy
- We will support and actively promote initiatives to minimise drink driving in order to safe guard the wellbeing of our patrons
This establishment will affect these strategies by:
- Implenting, monitoring and modification on an on going basis of the house policy
- Preventing underage drinking by insisting on proof of age by requesting a drivers licence, passport of age card Issued by the NSW Roads & Traffic Authority
- Prevention of intoxication by recognising the signs of intoxication and refusing serve to anyone to the point of intoxication. We will deny entry to service to anyone who is already intoxicated
CODE OF PRACTICE
RESPONSIBLE PROMOTIONS OF LIQUOR PRODUCTS
Licensees and registered club managments have a responsibility to ensure that patrons do not become intoxicated on their premises and to prevent intoxicated persons from entering or remaining on licensed or club premises.
This code of practice for Resonsible Promotions of Liquor Products for licensed and registered. Club premises provides a framework for practices which are considered acceptable and reasonable, subjects to controls being in place to prevent the intocication of patrons and, in all other respects, the premises being properly conducted. The Code highlights those practices which are discourages as not being in a public interest.
UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICES
- Drinks that offer alcohol in non standard measures and/or by virtue of their emotive titles, such as "laybacks" - " shooters" -" slammers" ' " test tubes" - "blasters", and their method of consumption encourages irresponsible drinking habits and are likey to result in rapid intoxication.
- Drink cards that provide a multiple of free drinkins, extreme discounts or discounts of limited duration on a given day or night and/or have the capacity to be readily stockpiled by patrons or transferred to other patrons. in other words the drink card must not, by design or potential misuse, create an incentive for patrons to consume liquor more rapidly than they otherwise might
- Any labelling or titling of promotions that may encourage partons to consume liquor irresponsibly and excessively to an intoxicated state
- The refusal to half measures of spirits on request or provide reasonably priced non-alcoholic drinks.
- Any promotions that encourages a patron to consume liquor excessively - " all you can drink offers" - "free drinks for women" - " free drinks for women all night" - " two for one" - and to consume it in an unreasonable time period.

- The advertising of a consistant price of a particular type or brand of liquor across the entire trading hours of a premises on a given day or night, providing the price is not so low that it will, in itself, encourage the excessive consumption of alcohol and intoxications.
- Promotion of particular brands of liquor that provide incentives to purchase that brand by virtue of a consistent discounted price, offer of a prize etc. but does not provide any particular incentive to consume that product more rapidly than a partons normal drinking habit.
