To provide students with the opportunity to participate in music lessons, learning a culturally appropriate instrument.
At Granville South Public School we have a variety of cultures, mainly students and families from an Arabic speaking background. We encourage all students to take pride in their cultural heritage and promote the common values that link with the Australian way of life. The school would like to provide an opportunity for students from a range of backgrounds to learn how to play the traditional drums. This will support their cultural connection as well as link with their school life to promote a sense of belonging. Having students feel safe and connected helps support their overall well-being. It is envisaged that the grant will be used to support the cost of these lessons, having a professional musician that specialises in drums to teach the students over 2 terms, until the end of 2023.
Set Up For Success
‘Set Up For Success’ is a program focused on providing early intervention to students in K-2 in the area of occupational therapy. Occupational therapy will be delivered across Kindergarten to Year 2, over the course of several terms; targeting those with significant needs in areas of fine and gross motor skill development, visual perception and self care.
